Sure think Joh!
Good to hear from you.
Hey, everyone. Think good thoughts about me around 10 AM Friday (yikes, that's today).
I have a call back interview for the lawyer job. They wanted to see me next week, but I'm going to be away with my family celebrating mom's "special" birthday. Actually, think of me at around 8:00 AM or so. That is when I should leave my apartment to be sure I get there on time.
See you all when I get back (week from Sunday).

Hope all went well, Polly.
Sorry I didn't see the post before, but I was getting ready to go to Shore Leave.
And now I'm hoping your west coast visit is as wonderful as it sounded when you told me about your itinerary!

Howdy, folks.
I'm back. OK, first things first. I had the call back. I got there on time. Actually, I got there early and sat and waited in the train station for a while, so I would get there on time. I thought the interview went OK. People said a few things that made me think they were trying to confirm things. Like when the VP said that if I got the job, I would have to go get my masters degree in tax. Then he rushed to say of course they would pay for it.
Unfortunately, the interview was over a week ago, and I haven't heard a thing. They did know I was going to be away for a week, but I told the headhunter that I would check my messages and he didn't leave any. I'm guessing that it hasn't worked out. I can call and find out tomorrow, but I'm already feeling that creeping disappointment. I'll either confirm or contradict that feeling later.
As for the trip, I am glad I went. It was good to be with my family and mom enjoyed her birthday and all. However, remind me never to travel that way ever again. Ever. It is way too regimented for me. On the bus, off the bus for 25 minutes, back on the bus, bags ready for pick up at 7:15 one day, 7:30 the next. I might have enjoyed it more if I hadn't been bus sick so often. I don't like driving on switchacks. The activities were mostly fine, but there was too much driving and too much eating. I especially enjoyed the whitewater rafting (not everyone did that). As for the food, I found myself regressing way back to my fussy years (three through 6). You never saw someone send stuff back or simply refuse to eat it so often. Oregon is beautiful, though.
Anyway, I'm home now. I have tons of laundry to do. I managed to wrench my left wrist on the way home, so I have an ace bandage, but it isn't too bad. And it was wonderful to be able to sleep last night in my own bed. I've been through the e-mail, so, now it is time to catch up on my bboards. See you all around...

Oops. I spoke too soon. Got a call today from the headhunter. I got it! I'm going to be a tax lawyer again. I told them I would start either August 6th or August 29th depending on whether they minded the week off I need to take to take my planned trip to visit Bee and go to Stratford. My new boss says that August is their slowest month so they might prefer the later date. OK by me.
The offer is a little less money than I originally thought, but it is still two and a half times as much as the teaching job and these folks will pay for the tax masters degree they want me to get.
I'm employed again! Yippee!
